- 3 tubers of sweet potatoes.
- 2 cup of white kidney beans (cannellini beans)
- 300g of mackerel or minced meat
- 1 medium onions, chopped
- 1 teaspoon of ginger
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon of curry
- 2 cooking spoons red palm oil, optional
- 2 tablespoons of Crayfish (ground)
- 1 medium bunch of spring onions or ugu leaf,(spinach or kale)
- 2-3 seasoning cubes
- 4 scotch bonnet or chilli pepper
- A small inch size of Iru/Dawadawa
- Salt to taste

- Soak your beans in cold water for 6 hours or overnight.
- Cook the beans for 5 minutes and drain the darkish water
- Rinse the beans and place in a pot, add clean water to it and cook for 30 minutes.

- When the beans are almost cooked, bring the sweet potatoes into the content and cook too.
- Add fish, chicken broth or more water to the beans and potatoes to cook properly.
- Season the beans and the potato porridge with, crayfish, 3 seasoning cubes, ginger, curry, thyme, salt and some onions and stir to incorporate.
- Leave the porridge to cook on a medium-low heat to absorb all the ingredients, while you chop carrots, spring onions and tomatoes. You can add either dried fish or minced beef to the porridge if you have any. I used mackerel and I had to scatter my it into the porridge; its just what I wanted.
- At this point, the liquid must have gone down, add palm oil to your potato and beans porridge and stir properly or simply use vegetable oil.
