The return to civilian government from the military in 1999 is term ‘Fourth Republic’. The legislative arm of Plateau State government (Plateau State House of Assembly) is unicameral and divided into twenty four constituencies which are evenly distributed across the three senatorial zones.

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY (NASS) OF NIGERIA
The National Assembly of Nigeria is bicameral, having an upper chamber (the Senate), and a lower chamber (the Federal House of Representatives, commonly known as House of Reps). The Senate is divided into one hundred and nine (109) constituencies, with each of the thirty six (36) states of Nigeria having three constituencies and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT – Abuja has one constituency.
The House of Reps has a total of three hundred and sixty constituencies. Some states have more constituencies than others; example Kano and Lagos states have the highest number of twenty four each followed by Kaduna state with sixteen, Katsina fifteen, Oyo fourteen… and least being five in Bayelsa and Nasarawa States; followed by six in Yobe, Kwara, Taraba, Gombe, Ekiti and Ebonyi states. Plateau State has eight just like Abia, Adamawa, Cross River, Enugu and Kebbi States. FCT-Abuja which does not have a full status of a state like the other thirty six states in Nigeria, has only two.
